WITH ONE BREATH 2017
Nobody starts their journey with cystic fibrosis filled with hope. With the diagnosis of cystic fibrosis, three things become crystal clear. Cystic fibrosis is: life-shortening, chronic, and progressive. Life-shortening means the threat of death is always there, chronic means forever, and progressive means tomorrow will eventually and inevitably be worse than today. Imagine hanging this burden of suffering around the neck of someone most precious and dear...the result is agony. Despair pokes a hole in the human spirit, and like a pierced balloon, dreams of a bright future come rushing out. The only way individuals and families affected by cystic fibrosis can repair the gaping hole left behind by despair is to choose hope. For in hope, they are saved.
We THANK YOU for injecting hope into the cystic fibrosis community by helping us raise more than $70,000 at our WITH ONE BREATH event this year! We donated $20,000 of this total to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s cure-finding research program. Fueled by your support, another new life-extending drug is expected to hit the market within the year.
In addition, $10,000 of the proceeds from this year’s event went to the University of MN CF Center to fund research on colon cancer prevention in people with cystic fibrosis.
The remaining proceeds go toward our hospital support programs, including Theo’s Place (which provides single-family lodging), care packages, and financial grants for those undergoing lengthy hospital stays. There is nothing more rewarding than reading letter after letter of thanks from the recipients of our hospital support programs. Each account speaks of a burden lifted and strength restored.
To our Platinum Sponsors Roger Clyne’s Mexican Moonshine Tequila, Chris Estenson, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Timron Precision Gear, and Mar Cor Purification: May you be proud of the work you do, the leaders you are, and the difference you make.
To those that attend our event and support WITH ONE BREATH: We thank you for helping us embrace hope on our journey to end cystic fibrosis.
